JAKARTA - Indonesia send two representatives in the men's singles of the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier (BIOSSP) 2016. After Jonatan Christie, it is now Ihsan Maulana Mustafa's turn who advances after defeating China's Huang Yuxiang 21-18, 21-15.

Losing behind in the first set, 8-11, the Djarum club's player managed to to collect points by reducing blunders. Ihsan finally was up and equalized, 18-18. At this point, he looked more confident.

The victory in the second game made Ihsan unstoppable in the following set. Ihsan was widening the gap and leading 19-7, two points from victory.

However, Yuxiang slowly started to catch up and reduce the gap to 15-20. A return made by Ihsan which touched the net fell down in Yuxiang's area, Ihsan grabbed a ticket to quarter final.

"In the second game I was playing too careful, I waited for the opponent to make a mistake, but instead I made my own mistakes. That's why my points were overtaken," Ihsan said after the game.

Ihsan also said he was still not satisfied with the first game in which he was hesitant and awkward with his own appearance.

"I was tense. There many smashes opportunities I didn't take. Then I decided to play offensively and securely," said a player who was born in Tasikmalaya, November 18, 1995.

In the quarter final, Ihsan will meet Rajiv Ouseph from England. It will be the first meeting of the two players in the history of Ihsan's professional badminton career.

Theoretically speaking, Ouseph who is world's #15 is the more favorable winner than Ehsan who is world's #29 player. "Ouseph is an experienced player, he is happy to play here, he has a smooth ball management. He defeated Jonathan (Christie) at the Malaysia Open 2016. If Jo could win, InshaAllah I can win," said Ihsan.

Previously, Indonesia sent Jonatan to quarter final in men's singles. Jonatan went through after stunning Super Dan in a two set match, 21-12, 21-12.
