In the semifinal of BCA Indonesia Open Super Series Premier 2015 held this afternoon, Saturday (6/6), Owi/Butet has to take another bitter defeat after failing to secure a ticket to final round in front of the fans at the stadium by being forced to bow out from their archenemy from China, Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei.
In the first game Owi/Butet took a lead with 21-15 but Owi/Butet were unable to win the next game and ousted by Zhang/Zhao 15-21 and 18-21.
“Today, the first game was a good opening for us, we could win. We gained self confidence. But in the second game they changed their strategy a little bit and we failed to anticipate it. In the decider, we were careless when the points were all square, 14-14. We were unease after we were left behind, just when we were trying to chase the points, we had the pressure. But for today we are quite happy with the result. Hopefully we can evaluate in the world championship,” Butet said after the match.
Tontowi/Liliyana and Zhang/Zhao have met for fourteen times. The record for both sides is 9-5 for Zhang/Zhao’s superiority. Tontowi/Liliyana have always been lost in the last four encounters.
“The last time we met was at All England and Singapore and we were crushed, but here we could force a rubber game. I still have the faith that when we play against them, we can stun in a straight game,” Liliyana added.
“The way I see it, we met the last time in Singapore and I learned a lot there, my weaknesses when I was there, I tried to fix it here. Now I can anticipate their offensive shots, but I still need to study them for sure,” added Tontowi.
This match has become their 15 encounters for both sides where Zhang/Zhao comfortably lead for the 10th times, and this concludes their 5 winning streaks since All England 2014 over Owi/Butet.
