JAKARTA – The Mainaky Brothers, Yehezkiel Fritz Mainaky/Lyanny Mainaky said they were pleased to perform at the BCA Indonesia Open Superseries Premier 2016.

Although stunned by Kim Astrup/Line Kjaersfeldt from Denmark, 12-21,12-21, this was said to be a precious experience for the siblings who grew up in Japan.

Mainaky’s name is strongly related to Indonesia’s badminton culture following the era of Richard Leonard, Rionny Frederik Lambertus, Rexy Ronald, Marleve Mario and Karel Leopold. Mainaky’s big name boosts Yehezkiel and Lyanni’s motivation who are the children of Rionny Mainaky.

"Glad to play at Indonesia Open. Last year, we were sitting among the crowds in the stadium tribune. Playing on the court is extraordinary. It wasn’t a nervous experience, instead, it was exciting,” Lyanni said at the stadium, Monday (30/5).

Lyanni Alessandra Mainaky shares her story about how she started to play badminton when she was a sixth grader. Neither her father nor her mother ever asked her to play badminton. But the badminton blood running through her vains is too dominant and unstoppable.

"Everyone was supportive. My brother was only interested in watching me playing when we were in Japan, when he was in the 8th grade he started to play," Lyanni said representing her brother who is not really fluent in Indonesian language.

Lyanni and Yehezkiel wishes are to be the world champions following his uncle’s achievement, Richard Mainaky, Rexy Mainaky and Marlev Mainaky. Therefore, she asked to her mother, Rionny, to go back to Jakarta and to start her career as a professional badminton player.

In 2014, 20 year old Lyanni was almost qualified to national training in Cipayung. However, she only reached runner up at Turnamen Junior Masters which is a national selection prior to Cipayung. Fortunately, it didn’t stop her dream to play for Indonesia at world big tournaments. At the moment, they both are actively participating in Indonesia Badminton Association’s National Circuit.

"But my uncles joined the national training at mature age. They said I had a huge chance. Hopefully I can qualify for the national training and play for Indonesia," she ended.
