JAKARTA - The world's #1 pair, Zhang Nan/Zhao Yunlei, admitted they were troubled by Alfian Eko Prasetya/Annisa Saufika's fierce resistance in the quarter final of the BCA Indonesia Open Super Series Premier 2016.

Zhang/Zhao won relatively easy in the first set, 21-10, Alfian/Annisa gave them meaningless resistance. However, the situation changed in the second set, Alfian/Annisa made a comeback and it was not anticipated by Zhang/Zhao. The world's #53 stole the second set from the Chinese pair, 21-10.

“The wind was blowing too fast, it was hard for us to catch up in the second game due to the wind. We didn't underestimate Alfian/Annisa, we played normally,” said Zhao.

“Previously, we fought the other Indonesian pair (Riky Widianto/Richi Puspita Dili), actually they have the same quality, but facing Alfian/Annisa was a fiercer because it was the first time for us," Zhao added.

In the third set, Zhang/Zhao said he found the right remedy to stop Alfian/Annisa. Even though leading 6-3, Alfian/Annisa were still unable to convert the deuce to a win. Indonesia failed to send any Mixed doubles pair to semifinal.

Semifinal pool will make Zhang/Zhao and Korea's Ko Sung Hyun/Kim Ha Na fight a match.
